A promotional horsebox forms part of Subaru's strategy to drive sales to the horsey set.

The 4x4 brand is targeting horse owners and similar motorists who need a tow car.

Subaru UK bought a horsebox trailer earlier this year which has been liveried and converted into a promotional tool for display at events such as Eventing, Point to Point and county shows.

John Fossey, the brand's head of marketing, told AM of a proposal to make similar horseboxes available regionally for dealers to use at their events.

"Simply having the horsebox there hitched to a Legacy or Forester demonstrates that these are cars suited to their needs. It's fitted out to display information such as towing weights for each model," said Fossey. Subaru Forester Boxer diesel

He will discuss the idea with dealers next month at Subaru's annual conference.

The horsebox's first outing was at the Houghton International horse trials, of which Subaru is the title sponsor.

Subaru is also a principal brand partner of Horse & Country TV, a digital and broadband TV channel.
