ONE of Northern Scotland's largest independent groups has added Dacia and SsangYong to its franchise lists.

Ness Motors of Inverness, with branches at Perth and Elgin, have been Renault main dealers in the North for 40 years where it continues to be a main player in Renault car and light commercial sales, writes David Morgan.

Chaired by Scott Lauder, the company employs a staff of 96 at their three locations and in addition to Renault and their new outlets run the Highland's main Citroen franchise from Inverness along with an Approved Saab Spares operation.

Managing director Chris Rankin said: "Dacia makes sense because of the close links with Renault while SsangYong is a perfect niche franchise for the Highlands where we expect it to do well."

Last year Ness Motors sold a total of 2881 new and used cars of all makes from their centres.
