Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings), the parent company of Marshall Motor Group, has appointmented Peter Johnson non-executive director, effective from the beginning of this month.

Daksh Gupta, chief executive of Marshall Motor Group, said: “This is a fantastic appointment for Marshall and I am delighted that we will have such a significant motor industry figure joining the board of our parent company.

"I have known Peter personally for 15 years, since we were both at Inchcape and more recently through the National Franchised Dealers Association.

"His deep understanding of the industry and Marshall will be invaluable to our shareholders as we move into the next phase of our strategy in Marshall Motor Group.”

Johnson (pictured) said: “The company continues to go from strength the strength and I look forward to working with Daksh and his team.”

In the 1980s he was sales director at Austin Rover and joined Marshall Motor Group as chief executive in 1990, leading the company’s expansion during the last recession, before he moved on to Inchcape in 1995.
