Paul Cooper, brand manager of Wolverhampton Volkswagen, has retired from Trust Group, after three years in the post – and 37 in the trade.

“This is a very, very good business and The Trust Group has been a great company to work for,” he said.

“But the time is right, and I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and getting over to Spain a bit more to enjoy the sun – there just aren’t enough weekends in the year at the moment.”

Cooper (pictured) worked for a number of different brands over his 37 years.

“I got into the motor trade originally because it was the only sales job I could get that came with a company car,” he said.

His career included 21 years with Evans Halshaw and five with Arnold Clark.

He joined Wolverhampton Volkswagen as brand manager in 2013.

“It’s the people I will miss the most,” Cooper said.

Wolverhampton Volkswagen is part of Trust Group UK with additional sites at Redditch and Stourbridge.

Trust Group managing director Andrew Hockedy said: “We’re sorry to see Paul go, but he’s been in the motor trade man and boy and has certainly earned his early retirement.

“He’s leaving Wolverhampton Volkswagen in great shape though, with new car sales up, finance renewals up and a really strong team of colleagues. We wish him the very best of luck in his retirement.”
