Progress Motor Retail Group has acquired Spirit Skoda in Harlow to take its tally of Skoda sites to four as its eyes further growth.
The group, which also has Suzuki sites in Kettering and Milton Keynes, has completed the acquisition of the facility, on Edinburgh Way, which features a nine-car showroom with the ability to display 50 used-cars on its forecourt.
There is also a fully-equipped six-bay workshop area, as well as a fully-stocked parts department.
Managing director Terence Byrne said: “I am delighted to announce our recent purchase of Spirit Skoda in Harlow from Group 1 Automotive.
“This represents a great addition to the group and is an ideal strategic geographical fit with all the other Progress businesses.
“Skoda is destined to continue to grow in the coming years and with the exciting new models planned, the future looks very bright.
“The all-new Kodiaq model arrives in showrooms early next year and with Progress having four locations across four counties, we will certainly capitalise from this incredible new car.”
Staff from the Harlow business will transfer over to Progress, Byrne said, adding: “We look forward to them playing their part in truly transforming the territory and becoming part of the Progress success story.”
Byrne started Progress back in 2006 with just six staff. It now employs 100 and has an annual turnover of over £40m.
The group featured in last year’s London Stock Exchange ‘1,000 companies to inspire Britain’.
