Lookers’ family-focussed car dealerships lead to ‘rare’ Mumsnet accolade

Lookers has become the only UK motor retailer to receive two Mumsnet rated retailer badges in response to its family-focussed dealership developments.

The stamp of approval is in recognition of a number of recent in-dealership initiatives aimed at attracting more families.

Among those most welcomed by families were areas for children, a comprehensive selection of available refreshments and modern changing facilities.

As a result, the group can now boast a Mumsnet Rated retailer badge in addition to its Family Friendly employer badge.

Lookers’ group people director, Andrew Stephenson, said: “So many of our vehicles are targeted towards families, so it makes absolute sense that our dealerships should reflect this.

"Purchasing a new car is an important moment that all the family can be a part of and we encourage this right across the business.”

The badge was awarded it scored a satisfaction rating of 71% among its customers, with families particularly satisfied with its customer service.

This resulted in 83% stating that they would visit one of Lookers’ 153 dealerships again, while 75% would recommend the retailer to a friend or family member.

Additionally, 70% of families also said that the wide range of new and used cars at Lookers and the quality of aftercare it offered meant that it represented good value for money.

“We also have equal appeal amongst our employees, having already received a Family Friendly Retailer badge from Mumsnet for our family focussed workplace culture, which has been enhanced in recent years by an improved benefits package, including additional holidays and a full year’s maternity leave,” said Stephenson.

The recent launch of the new Lookers mascot, Lucky the Dog, has also helped the retailer create a more family friendly image, with children able to take away a plush Lucky soft toy and range of Lucky story books.

Mumsnet’s co-founder and chief executive, Justine Roberts, said: “Lookers have pulled off this rare double accolade by embracing families, both as a retail business and as an employer.

"We're very happy to award them Mumsnet Rated for their customer service and Family Friendly for their employment practices.”
