Swansway Group begins work on new £9m Oldham VW dealership

Swansway Group directors Peter and John Smyth

Swansway Group has broke ground in its development of a new £9 million Volkswagen car and commercial vehicle dealership in Oldham.

The Crewe-based AM100 car retail group is working with Pulmann Associates Architects to create the new facility at a site on Chadderton Way, Oldham, which was acquired in October 2020.

It follows the acquisition of the Oldham VW franchise from Inchcape in September last year. The business is currently located on Manchester Rd, Chadderton, Oldham.

Swansway directors Peter and John Smyth were on-hand to dig the first sod at the new development, which the group said will enable it to “realise the full potential of this key Oldham location”.

Fellow director David Smyth said: “This latest project in Oldham is very exciting as it is a prime location, and we hope that we will be able to realise our plans to develop it to the very highest standard.

“Our expectation is that this will be a very welcome addition to the Oldham community, bringing both jobs and customers to the local area.

“And as a family business, we are very proud to be helping Oldham on its journey to realising its full potential.”

Swansway has once again employed the services of Pulmann Associates Architects to develop the new site.

The business has supported Swansway on numerous building projects, including the development of Stafford Land Rover and Swansway Jaguar Crewe.

Pullman Associates director, Peter Czajkowskyj, said: “We have always welcomed the relationship with Swansway.

“They have a standard level above the expected and they always provide the right amount of redevelopment and finance to support their ambitions.

“When Swansway commence a project we know it is going to be dynamic and completed with real polish, which is great for everyone involved.”
