Motorpoint begins used car sales at Manchester car supermarket

A former Mercedes-Benz dealership has been converted by Motorpoint into its latest car supermarket.

Motorpoint Manchester opened its doors to the public October 1 following a major multi-million-pound refurbishment of the Aston Old Road site, which was vacated by Mercedes franchisee LSH Auto UK

Motorpoint has created 30 jobs at the Manchester car supermarket, which is located just a short drive from the Etihad Stadium.

Jordan Dean, head of retail operations at Motorpoint Manchester said: “The Motorpoint name is already well-established in the wider region thanks to our existing network of stores in the North-West.

"The opening of our new Manchester branch will bring even greater choice for our customers in the area and fits with our mission to make car buying easy, whether our customers prefer to buy in-store, reserve online or arrange for home delivery.”

The launch of Motorpoint Manchester is being supported over the coming weeks with a regional media campaign across print, outdoor, radio and TV.

"The atmosphere at our opening day was really fantastic. As part of our opening celebration, we gave away scratch cards with a range of prizes available, including gift vouchers, dash cams and meals out in Manchester. We also had a Motorpoint Grand Prix Scalextric with a chance to win a real-life driving experience. Our Manchester team were delighted to give our customers the opportunity to enjoy the Motorpoint car buying experience for themselves including our award-winning combination of choice, value, service and quality.”

The latest AM industry special issue

The complexity of running a modern dealership can be misunderstood easily by people looking in on our industry.

Any general manager has so many plates to spin, and they must foster a talented team that they can rely on to not just do the basics well, but to sprinkle some magic on top that customers can notice.

If the marketplace in 2023 is steadily returning to relative normality, this normality now includes the drive to find customers for an increasing supply of electric vehicles, and the need to source used cars from all channels and market them carefully. And of course there are the desires to delight consumers with an omnichannel experience and to hold on to decent margins after a couple of years of strong profitability.

The expectations of both the customer and the business’s stakeholder must be achieved to the optimum level.

In this special digital publication, industry experts, prominent suppliers and franchised dealers share their insights on the major aspects required in running a modern dealership well.
