JLR names best-performing dealers at Retailer of the Year awards

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has revealed the results of its Retailer of the Year Awards 2021, highlighting the best performing Jaguar and Land Rover retail partners across its network

Hatfields Jaguar Shrewsbury was named Jaguar Retailer of the Year, while Hatfields Land Rover Pickering picked up the trophy for best Land Rover retailer.

Hatfields’ strong performance across its dealerships nationwide also saw it win Jaguar Group of the Year for the third time in four years.

Patrick McGillycuddy, Sales Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK, said: “The standard across each of our Jaguar Land Rover retailers nationwide is already extremely high, but each year there are those businesses that innovate to deliver an extra special experience for our customers.

“Congratulations to all of the winners from this year’s Retailer of the Year Awards – all of whom achieved fantastic results and received impeccable feedback during a year that was by no means free from challenges. Particular praise should go to Pentland and Hatfields, both of whom made multiple appearances on our winners list and rightly were named as our two Group of the Year champions.”

Awards are given to individual retailers, as well as the top performing retailer groups, and special mentions given to those retailers delivering the best customer experience in the country.

The category winners scored highly across all key areas of the business, including customer service and aftersales retention.

Stratstone Jaguar Land Rover in Stockton-on-Tees was named Most Improved Retailer of the Year, while Hatfields won a further two awards in the Customer Experience category.

Pentland was named Land Rover Group of the Year.

JLR will transform Jaguar into a purely electric vehicle (EV) brand by 2025 and expects 60% of new Land Rovers to be zero-emissions capable by 2030.

The Tata-owned British car manufacturer also revealed its plan to establish two clear, unique personalities for the two brands as it announced it would to embark on a process of ‘rightsizing, repurposing and reorganising’ through a new ‘Reimagine’ strategy.

The latest AM industry special issue

The complexity of running a modern dealership can be misunderstood easily by people looking in on our industry.

Any general manager has so many plates to spin, and they must foster a talented team that they can rely on to not just do the basics well, but to sprinkle some magic on top that customers can notice.

If the marketplace in 2023 is steadily returning to relative normality, this normality now includes the drive to find customers for an increasing supply of electric vehicles, and the need to source used cars from all channels and market them carefully. And of course there are the desires to delight consumers with an omnichannel experience and to hold on to decent margins after a couple of years of strong profitability.

The expectations of both the customer and the business’s stakeholder must be achieved to the optimum level.

In this special digital publication, industry experts, prominent suppliers and franchised dealers share their insights on the major aspects required in running a modern dealership well.
