Polestar is targeting classic car drivers that might want an electric vehicle (EV) as their daily drive as part of a test drive event at Silverstone Classic.

The three-day test drive event runs between August 26-28 and is part of Switch Live, which is an EV only section of the popular classic motorsports festival.

The Switch Live event says: "With the sale of pure petrol and diesel cars banned from 2030, change is inevitable."

Ford, Cupra, MG, Genesis and Nissan will also be at the show to display their latest EVs.

Test drives will take place out on the open roads around Silverstone and are available with a limited number of spaces bookable in advance for Silverstone Classic ticket holders.

Polestar is offering a 10% discount for ticket prices for the show for those that book a test drive.

Polestar’s test drive campaign follows on from its presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the opening of a new permanent test drive hub at Bicester.

Since its 2020 launch there are already around 8,000 Polestar EVs on UK roads and the company expects to continue to grow this number rapidly.

Polestar's ambition is to reach 290,000 vehicle deliveries globally by 2025, and in the first half of 2022 one in every eight Polestars sold was registered in the UK market.

Polestar currently partners with AM100 car retail groups Endeavour Automotive and Lookers – who operate under agency-style franchise agreements – at its two UK Polestar Space locations in the UK.

The brand has revealed plans to double its retail presence and launch a new out-of-town ‘Destination’ store concept as part of ambitious new growth plans.
