Volkswagen reveals seven-seat Tiguan Allspace

9 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

Volkswagen has expanded its best-selling SUV, the Tiguan, with an extra row of seats to create the Allspace.

Designed to fill the gap between a Tiguan and a Touareg, the new seven-seater has 21.5cm of additional interior space and an extra row of folding rear seats.

The boot is also bigger: with the rearmost seats folded there is 760 litres of luggage space or 1,920 litres with all the seats folded.

Buyer can choose from front- and all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive versions of the SUV can manage large trailer loads of up to 2,200kg depending on the engine version; in the all-wheel drive, this increases to 2,500kg.

Six powertrains will be offered including three TSI turbocharged petrol engines developing 150PS, 180PS or 220PS. Diesels will be available with output levels of 150PS, 190PS and 240PS.

The front-wheel drive Tiguan Allspace 1.4 TSI with 150 PS has a combined fuel consumption of 47mpg and CO2 emissions of 135 g /km. Four-wheel drive 150PS diesel models will return 40.9mpg.

The Tiguan Allspace boasts a higher level of standard features over the classic Tiguan. Base Trendline versions get roof railings, automatic  anti-dazzle interior mirror, rain sensor, proactive occupant protection system, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, Lane Assist, Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, a multifunction steering wheel and a variable cargo floor.

Comfortline gets pan electrically operated tailgate and silver roof rails. Highline includes full-LED headlights and Keyless Access locking and starting system.

All Tiguan Allspace models equipped with a navigation system also come with the online information and services Guide & Inform and Security & Service. The optional App Connect also connects the Infotainment system with all popular smartphones via Mirror Link, CarPlay and Android Auto.
