Vauxhall introduces new 1.5-litre Turbo D engine for Grandland X

The Vauxhall Grandland X SUV

Vauxhall has replaced the existing 1.6-litre diesel engine in the Grandland X with an all-new 1.5-litre unit.

The new powertrain emits 108g/km of CO2 when tested under the new WLTP regime (NEDC correlated). It also meets Euro 6d-Temp regulations for NoX.

Power has been increased by 10PS to 130PS, despite capacity reducing from 1.6-litres to 1.5-litres. Vauxhall says the new engine can perform as well as a 2.0-litre unit.

A new eight-speed automatic transmission which features an optimised torque converter to improve gear shift smoothness and reduce idling vibrations is also available.

“The high-tech design of the new 1.5-litre diesel in the Vauxhall Grandland X enables customers to combine the fun of a compact SUV with the powerful performance and low emissions of an advanced diesel engine,” said Ian Mitchell, Vauxhall’s Grandland X brand manager.

The new engine will be available from £24,190 on-the-road for the SE model. The 1.5-litre diesel’s fuel consumption is: urban 60.1-64.2 mpg, extra-urban 70.6-74.3 mpg, combined 67.3-68.9 mpg and 108-110g/km CO2.

The Vauxhall Grandland X was launched last year and will be available to test at Company Car In Action between June 12-13. Click here to register for your free place.
