Toyota will reintroduce its Camry large executive saloon to the UK as a hybrid electric next year after a 14-year absence.

The 'self-charging' hybrid will use a new 2.5-litre hybrid system and will  increase the manufacturer's range of hybrids to eight.

The new model will be the eighth generation Camry. Since the original was launched in 1982, the range has sold more than 19 million cars globally.

Currently available in more than 100 countries, it sells more than 700,000 units annually, making it the world's best-selling model in its class.

Prices, performance, equipment details and on-sale date will be announced later.
