Derby-based NK Motors has made a strong start following the launch of its new used car showroom on Tamworth Road, Long Eaton in early April.

In just its first month of trading, the centre generated 82 customer enquiries, converting an impressive 43% into sales. With 36 vehicles sold - from an average of just 27 cars on display—the team also saw over 25,000 views on its Instagram account and 18 five-star reviews from satisfied customers.

The new showroom is the latest venture from NK Motors Group, which also operates a flagship Kia dealership in Pride Park, Derby, and another new and used car centre in Chilwell, Nottingham.

Group managing director Sanj Kumar commented: "For a new business, things just couldn’t have gone any better for the team at Long Eaton. We’ve seen the kind of sales levels you’d expect from a well-established business, not one just starting out. We’ve clearly launched at the right time and in the right place."

The Long Eaton site has a rich history with NK Motors. The group originally purchased the property 25 years ago, with Kumar himself starting his career in car sales there.

After being leased to Pidcock Motorcycles in 2014, the site became available again when the previous tenant went into administration in 2024.

Recognising the opportunity, NK Motors invested £100,000 in refurbishing and repairing the site in November.

The new branch handles its administration, finance, advertising, photography, and accounting on-site, independent of head office operations.

Once fully stocked, the showroom will accommodate up to 80 vehicles, with plans for a 40-car overflow showroom at another nearby NK-owned property. The expansion has already created seven new jobs, with four more roles set to follow.

"It was a no-brainer to move back into Long Eaton," said Kumar. "The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to build on this early success in the months ahead."

NK Motors which employs 80 staff reported a £80 million turnover in 2024 and aims to hit £100 million in 2025. In addition to retail operations, NK Motors leases more than 1,000 fleet vehicles annually and sells approximately 1,000 new Kia models, with a 2025 target of 3,500 used car sales.
