A new data engineer and data scientist have been appointed at online finance specialist iVendi as the business aims to gain greater insight from its online motor retail data.

Alex Park has joined the business as a data engineer, have worked previously with CAPGemini as a big data consultant and Michael Brown has been appointed as a data scientist, having had previous experience for the Co-op Bank in a similar role within finance product development.

Park has been charged with scaling iVendi’s motor retail data processing platform to create new retailer and lender insight opportunities, looking at car and van customers ranging from the casual shopper through to the transactional buyer.

Brown will initially be working on continuing the evolution of Car Finance Checker, iVendi’s market leading soft finance check solution, as well as working with Park and the existing iVendi data and insight team for new data product opportunities.

Rob Severs, iVendi’s vice-president of data and insight, said: “The growth of iVendi and the online motor retail sector in general mean that we are now handling a veritable flood of data about everything from motor finance to value added products.

“We have already gained some useful and often surprising insights that we have shared with the market but really, we have only being working at the edges of the potential of so much information.

“These two new appointments will enable us to do much more, delivering insights that will help us deliver better solutions to car, van and motorbike buyers, and motor retailers of all kinds These are very exciting times for us.”
