Online car retail start-up Cazoo has continued its recruitment drive with the appointment of Darren Bentley as its chief customer officer.

The brainchild of Zoopla founder Alex Chesterman OBE, Cazoo is set to be launched later this year and has already targeted Auto Trader, Manheim, Tesla and Paddy Power for a string of high-profile appointments.

Now the business has brought-in Bentley from MoneySuperMarket Group, where he fulfilled various senior marketing roles and most recently was chief customer officer, responsible for brand, digital marketing, CRM, customer insight, PR and customer service.

Cazoo said that Bentley brings with him a proven track record and over 15 years’ experience in key customer and marketing roles.

In his role as Chief Customer Officer at Cazoo, he will report directly to Chesterman and will be responsible for digital and brand marketing, customer experience and insight and PR.

He joins the growing Cazoo team of over 50 people who have joined since the start of the year.

Bentley said: “I am really excited to be joining Cazoo at this early stage in its journey. The opportunity is huge and I look forward to helping to transform the way people buy used cars in the UK.

“Our customers will be at the heart of everything we do and the Cazoo proposition will deliver market-leading selection, value, convenience and customer support.”

Chesterman said: “I am delighted to welcome Darren to Cazoo. He brings highly relevant experience and insights to the team that will be invaluable as we build and grow the business.

“Our focus is entirely on giving consumers a far better used car buying experience than is available today and Darren will help us deliver on that promise.”

Cazoo secured over £30 million of funding late last year and has the stated aim of making the used car buying process “no different to buying any other product online today” by letting consumers select from thousands of cars online and have it delivered to their door in as little as 48 hours.
