John Matthews has retired from his post as business development director at the Retail Automotive Alliance (RAA).

Matthews joined the organisation in 2015. At the time he had completed more than 20 years’ service in the automotive industry, working with companies such as Audatex, Fix Auto and more recently AutoRestore, a sister company of Autoglass.

RAA chairman Peter Fleet will assume Matthews' responsibilities on an interim basis pending a future announcement from the board on a new leadership structure.

Fleet is a former group vice president of the Ford Motor Company. He joined the RAA in 2021.

Fleet said: “The Board and shareholders of the Retail Automotive Alliance thank John for his seven years of service. During this time John has helped lead the successful growth of the RAA and deliver millions of pounds of savings to our shareholder members. We wish John every success in the next phase of his life.”

Matthews said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the RAA shareholders and Board. I am proud of what we have been able to achieve together, and I am sure that the growth and success will accelerate during these very changeable times.”

The RAA is a joint venture purchasing organisation delivering cost savings to its 27 motor dealer group members.
