Podcast service Acast has integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to enable drivers to listen to podcasts safely.

Users can navigate the Acast app on their existing car controls, opening up Acast’s library of 1,400 shows from around the world, which can be streamed on-demand, or pre-downloaded.

The app will be available in over 250 car models and with voice commands, drivers can safely use the platform without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road.

Acast’s chief strategy officer Karl Rosander said: “The entire radio industry is in the midst of a seismic shift from traditional broadcasting to Internet streaming, and Acast’s automobile integration is bringing that on-demand flexibility to the car, which is the second most popular place where people listen to podcasts.

“Drivers can now easily engage with Acast’s enormous library of podcasts safely, without ever looking down at their phones, wherever and whenever they want.”
