Service tool look-up service launched

A new service, reputed to be the first in the world, has been launched in the UK, allowing aftersales departments to identify the correct special service tool for any UK-registered passenger car or LCV.

The 'vehicle registration special service tool and equipment finder' enables the correct
tools and timing and locking kits to be identified and is free to use.

It is designed to reduce the time it takes a workshop manager or service receptionist to identify and locate the right tool for a specific vehicle to a few seconds, saving the average service department a man day per month, claim its makers.

Julian Thomas, managing director of, said: “Service departments have been wasting hundreds of man-hours a month on the phone trying to find and order exactly the right tool for a specific vehicle. This does it for them in seconds and lets them rent it on the spot for a fraction of the cost of buying it."

Powered by data from the DVLA, the SMMT and other sources, the service identifies the exact engine code(s) for a specific vehicle for fast, accurate search results.
