Go Vauxhall has closed its dealerships in Stafford and Wednesbury.

A spokesman for Vauxhall confirmed the closures to AM.

He said: “Vauxhall’s franchise partners elsewhere in the Midlands will be more than capable of meeting the needs of our customers in the area.

"For Stafford, the nearest are Brindley Cannock and Arnold Clark, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. For Wednesbury, the nearest sites are Evans Halshaw Wolverhampton and Dudley Motor Company."

The spokesman said all of the staff, "bar one or two through their own personal choice, have jobs to go to". As to why the dealerships were closed, Vauxhall refused to comment.

For those customers that have been affected, they have been asked to call 0800 026 0034 or email customercare@vauxhall.co.uk.

Go Vauxhall is part of Go Motor Retailing and is headed by James Weston and Simon Lawrence, respectively chief executive and finance & group strategy director at Peugeot Citroen Retail Group, which trades as Robins & Day.

The group recently relocated its Go Vauxhall Croydon business to a new showroom location.
