SsangYong Motors UK has expanded its dealer network with the addition of North City SsangYong.

The five-car SsangYong showroom is located opposite Chingford’s railway station and bus terminal with links into London and the surrounding areas. It is also accessible from both the North Circular and the M25.

On display at the new showroom is the model line-up, which includes the brands flagship Rexton, a new facelifted Musso pick-up truck, the Tivoli compact SUV, and crossover Korando, including the new pure-electric variant, the e-Motion.

Ssangyong's evolving line-up helped the Korean brand to grow its sales 65.3% year-to-date, from 239 to 395, according to Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) data for Q1.

Kevin Griffin, managing director at SsangYong Motors UK, said: “North City SsangYong is a fantastic addition to our SsangYong family and with a wealth of experience selling and maintaining SUVs and 4x4 vehicles, is perfect to represent the brand in its area. We look forward to working with the team and wish them every success.”

The former Mitsubishi dealership has been looking for a new franchise after Mitsubishi suspended all new car sales to the UK and Europe in 2021 and has occupied the same site since March 1985.

Last year SsangYong recruited 16 new car retail partners in the UK, including 14 ex-Mitsubishi sites.

Jay Virdee, managing director at North City SsangYong, said: “We are delighted to welcome SsangYong to our Chingford site.

“This exciting addition to the North City family is highly anticipated by staff and customers alike, and it is our belief that the brand has the quality, performance, and reliability that our customers are looking for.

“From the compact Tivoli, to the Korando and Rexton, plus the all-new highly specified Musso pick-up, there is something for every customer. The team and I are very much looking forward to our new relationship with SsangYong Motors UK.”

The addition of North City SsangYong follows Cawdor Cars, Tees Valley Motors and Gallaghers Motor Company joining the network.
