At 84 years old, George Kill from Hampshire has owned more than 100 cars, and his lifelong devotion to motoring has now earned him special recognition from Snows Motor Group.
Marking yet another milestone in an extraordinary driving journey that began in 1963, Kill recently took delivery of a brand-new BMW M2 - his latest addition to a remarkable automotive collection.
Kill, who bought his first car - a Morris Oxford - over six decades ago, has since owned vehicles from an impressive list of manufacturers, including Jensen, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz.
Yet it’s BMW that has held a lasting place in his heart. Over the years, Kill and his late wife Ann purchased 14 BMWs from Snows BMW in Portsmouth.
To honour his enduring loyalty to both the brand and the dealership, Snows welcomed Kill with a heartfelt gesture: £350 towards a family day out and a miniature replica of one of his favourite models.
The celebration, held at Snows BMW on Eastern Road, was attended by company leaders including chairman and CEO Stephen Snow and head of business Diana Mackinnon.
Kill reflected on his unique motoring story, which he shared with Ann, which has featured competing in national-level rally driving, autocross, autotests, and production car trials. In total, the couple purchased 115 new vehicles.
“From the mid-1960s, we each had two cars,” Kill recalled. “Most of the time, we had four on the driveway: one each for competitions and one each for everyday use.”
Despite Ann’s passing in 2022, Kill has continued his automotive passion, recently trading in an M2 Competition for his current model. Today, his driveway features just two cars: a new M2 and a Skoda Kodiaq used for dog walks and daily errands.
Despite his decades of experience, Kill remains impressed by the evolving world of cars, though he’s nostalgic for a simpler time.
“The best era for motoring was between 1960 and 1980,” he said. “Modern cars are extraordinary in terms of performance, but they’re built more for the PlayStation generation. They’re not really designed with older drivers in mind.”
Stephen Snow added: “It’s always a pleasure welcoming George to our dealership. His loyalty, enthusiasm and love for driving are inspiring. We’re proud to have been part of his journey and look forward to many more visits.”
Kill credits his positive experience at Snows BMW in no small part to sales executive Neil Magrath, whose professionalism, attention to detail, and - according to Kill - the excellent coffee, make each car-buying visit “a most enjoyable experience.”
