Volvo Car UK has launched an electric vehicle (EV) test drive hub at the Eden Project.

Visitors at the new hub will be given the opportunity to test drive Volvo’s pure electric fleet. Both the Volvo XC40 Recharge pure electric and the new C40 Recharge pure electric will be available.

Test drives can be pre-booked, and several walk-in slots will be available, Volvo said.

Kristian Elvefors, managing director at Volvo Car UK, said: “We are really excited to launch the new Volvo Pure Electric Test Drive Hub at the Eden Project.

“At Volvo, we recognise we have been part of the problem and are working extremely hard to ensure that our next generation of cars leave as little impact as possible.

“Our latest model, the C40 Recharge pure electric, demonstrates this commitment, right down to how it is manufactured, and the amount of recycled material used within the car.”

Volvo has made the commitment of being an electric-only car manufacturer by 2030.

Last year Volvo said new car subscriptions will help it increase market share in the years ahead, as it expanded its Care By Volvo service.

Volvo Car UK claimed the AM Awards 2021’s Manufacturer of the Year accolade after demonstrating that it was possible to pivot towards online sales and subscription services with the buy-in of its dealer partners.

Volvo said that its new test drive hub will help tackle some of the challenges and concerns consumers have around purchasing and driving electric cars, particularly in remote areas, and helping accelerate consumer uptake of zero-emission vehicles.
