Audi UK is searching for an influential performance driver to fill a new role of direct sales operations and performance manager as the Volkswagen Group brand prepares to expand its agency contracts for retailers.

Manufacturer direct sales, fulfilled by dealer agents, is being seen as the solution for truly omnichannel new car sales to consumers.

VW Group UK has already been using agency agreements with its retailers handling fleet sales for several years, rewarding them with fees for managing the face to face handover to end users.

In June it began a consultation process with staff ahead of a company reorganisation.

The carmaker said it is responding to “fundamental shifts” in the way it sells cars, including digital services and online sales direct to consumers, and added: “To enable the correct resource in developing these opportunities, Volkswagen Group UK is proposing changes to its organisational structure.”

Reporting to Jo Phipps, head of business transformation at Audi UK, the direct sales operations and performance manager will be responsible for driving the sales result of the retail agency, e-commerce and connected car programmes with Audi.

"You’ll be accountable for delivering through creation, deployment and proactive management of trading terms, remuneration, sales funnel management, KPI & SLA’s and any other commercial policies available," states the job advert.

"In this role you’ll define and lead a sales funnel conversion strategy for retail agency and e-commerce bringing together digital and network agent performance metrics to understand future sales."

Audi said a crucial aspect of the role will be to influence driving performance improvements, to challenge constructively and think strategically across multiple business functions.

On Linkedin, Jo Phipps, head of business transformation at Audi UK, wrote: “I’m recruiting a new team to change the way we do business. If you want to be a part of it I’d love to hear from you.

“This is a pivotal role that will help us build the right commercial framework to drive our future success.”

Volkswagen Group UK confirmed in 2021 that it would conduct all its electric vehicle sales under agency agreements by 2023.

Audi has pledged that all its new cars launched from 2026 will be electric vehicles.
