CDK Global had opened up its platform to software developers looking to integrate new applications with its dealer management system.

The creation of the Developer Portal supports the launch of the CDKI Partner Programme, which involves the use of the CDKI Open API Platform to integrate third party applications with the CDK DMS.

Darien Palmer, VP engineering at CDK Global, said: “The automotive industry is changing fast, and here at CDK Global we know that connecting dealers to partners and other enterprises is crucial to delivering efficient and profitable customer experiences.

“The CDKI Developer Portal is an embodiment of our mission to connect the automotive retail industry and provide seamless experiences for both dealers and customers alike. For those seeking information about the API products, the developer portal describes the products, and provides full specs for the APIs.

“In order to continue helping the industry to market, sell and service vehicles we must tap into new ways of thinking and harness the minds of creators who are looking to break into automotive software.

“In conjunction with the Partner Programme, it is our aim to create a platform where technological advancement is fostered, and new connections made in order to provide cutting edge solutions to the automotive industry.”

The portal is open to developers, both within and external to the automotive industry.

The Developer Portal is a further manifestation of CDK’s strategy, providing developers with access to documentation about dealers' data and workflows that can be accessed via the API Platform.

Products published on the portal include integration opportunities for developers working in automotive parts sales and vehicle health check applications, with products across a wide spectrum of dealer workflows and transactions in development.
