Volvo Car app intended to engage with consumers

Volvo Car UK has designed a new app as a hub for people to swap ideas about great days out and favourite places so that others can experience them too.

The 'Excursions' app has launched on Volvo's Facebook site and takes the form of an interactive map that guides Volvo fans to the best adventures up and down the UK, most of which are accessible by car. They can filter activity types to find those that appeal most; ‘Like’ and share favourites; and even submit their own suggestions.

Kylee Rush, brand and launch manager at Volvo Car UK, said:  “We want as many people as possible to get involved by sharing their favourite days out. The more people that get involved, the more we can make this a really useful tool for everyone to get a little extra sunshine this summer.”

The app, developed in partnership with Volvo’s social media agency Mindshare, will also host a range of videos filmed with Volvo’s sports and sailing ambassadors, including extreme wind-surfing, mountain biking and kite-surfing.

The app is also a chance to win prizes too – with participants entered into competitions to win cherished experiences of their own.
