Vertu Motors has struck a sponsorship deal with Wembley-bound Plymouth Argyle Football Club as part of efforts to grow its profile on the South Coast.

The deal struck with the League One football club will see Vertu Motors branding appear on their kit when they take to the pitch at England’s national stadium to take on Bolton Wanderers in the Papa John Trophy final on April 2.

It comes as the AM100 car retail group rolls-out its branding across the 28 former Helston Garages dealership locations it acquired in December.

So far, Jaguar dealerships in Exeter, Taunton and Truro and Land Rover dealerships in Exeter, Taunton, Truro and Yeovil have been brought under the Vertu Motors retail brand.

Commenting on Vertu’s new South Coast football sponsorship deal, Plymouth fan and Volvo franchise director at Vertu Motors, Nick Jones, said: “I am incredibly excited that our brand has agreed this deal with Plymouth Argyle. The club and its supporters are fantastic, and I’m sure there will be an amazing atmosphere at Wembley”.

“Vertu Motors is a huge supporter of football, and sport in general, but we only work with clubs that we feel have the strongest communities and really engage with their fans.”

James Greenacre, head of commercial at Plymouth Argyle, said: “We are delighted to welcome Vertu Motors to our portfolio of club partners.

“There is surely no better time to join the club than right now, with an exciting promotion run-in and the club’s first domestic cup final at Wembley Stadium to look forward to.”

Vertu Motors currently holds partnerships with EFL Championship Clubs Burnley FC, Middlesbrough FC and Sunderland AFC, in addition to sponsorship of Somerset County Cricket Club, Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

The brand is also partnered with the Professional Footballers' Association for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month Award and Player of the Year Award, in both the men’s and women’s games.
