AM Awards 2017: Best training and development programme - Stoneacre Motor Group

Steve Lane, regional manager, Stoneacre Motor Group, collects his AM Award 2017: Best training and development programme from Mike Macaulay, head of corporate sales, AutoProtect

Stoneacre Motor Group’s staff development programme has a vision of allowing anyone to progress from trainee to director, should they desire.

Stoneacre wants to provide a “careers for life” programme that gives every employee an equal opportunity to train, be ambitious, grow their experience and ensure a clear career path.

To support this, it created the Stoneacre Academy in late 2015. It is now possibly the only independent motor company to have its own dedicated Ofsted-regulated further education school, passing all regulations in line with the Common Inspectors Framework of Further Education and Skills. It has taken leading occupational experts and a senior management from the industry and made them qualified teachers. In August 2016, it achieved the national award ‘matrix standard’.

The Stoneacre Academy offers quality training to nurture, mentor and improve their skills, gain qualifications and aid career prospects. Most of its managers have been promoted internally.

“The team are our most important and most valuable asset and we believe, through inspiring success and empowering them to their fullest potential, we can provide the highest quality training opportunities to everyone, ensuring that they acquire the skills necessary to successfully shape their future and fulfil their potential,” said Philip Wade, franchise and development director.
