MG Motor UK is offering electric vehicle (EV) customers a full-service plan from £6 a month under a newly-launched aftersales scheme.

The new pay-monthly service plans include, periodic maintenance and full safety inspections carried out by MG certified technicians at an MG franchised dealer, all of which are registered on MG’s Digital Service Record (DSR) system, providing an additional 12 months of MG Assistance (provided by the AA).

Harvey France, head of aftersales at MG, said: “Our mobile phones are paid monthly. Our favourite boxset streaming service is paid monthly. So why pay for your car’s servicing any differently?

“Whilst our servicing has always been affordable, spreading the cost into easy monthly payments means you get peace of mind that your bills are covered, anywhere from two years up to five – it’s just another example of how EVs are driving down the cost of motoring as well as improving emissions.”

MG Motor UK said it is also offering similar service plans on its petrol models, starting from £14 a month - approved used and privately purchased pre-owned MGs are also eligible.

The OEM has targeted the appointment of 10 more franchised car retail sites to its network in 2021 after welcoming 28 new dealerships last year – expanding its network to 130 locations.

MG currently offers three plug-in models in the UK - the MG ZS EV, the All New MG5 EV and MG HS Plug-in - all backed by its seven-year warranty.

AM Magazine reviewed the launch of the new MG5 and HS PHEV models last year.

The Chinese-owned car brand, which scored a hit with its ZS EV and has since added the MG5 SW EV to its line-up, saw its UK registrations rise by 41% last year against the backdrop of a market down 29.4% overall.

Prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, MG had previously targeted 130% sales volume growth in 2020.
