Pentagon Motor Group intends to grow its Vauxhall representation to 13 franchised sites with the acquisition of Archie Moss Vauxhall in Loughborough.

The Derbyshire-based AM100 group announced its intention to acquire the business from owners, CSM (Basingstoke) Ltd in a statement issued this morning (August 1).

The Belton Road, Loughborough, franchise currently offers new and used Vauxhall car sales as well as aftersales support for Citroen, Peugeot and Renault.

Pentagon Motor Group, managing director, David Lewis, said: “We are very happy to be adding to our current Vauxhall portfolio of nine dealerships.

“We will immediately begin the process of consultation with the existing dealership staff and are hopeful all will join us under normal TUPE regulations and will do everything we can to ensure this is the case.”

Pentagon, part of Motus Group (UK) since its acquisition by the South African business in August 2017, currently operates 42 franchise outlets for a range of major vehicle manufacturers, with 28 sites across the East Midlands, North West, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

At the start of the year it acquired three Ford sites, at Warrington, St Helens and Runcorn, from the Ford of Britain-owned TrustFord retail group.

Pentagon’s statement said that the formal completion of the Archie Moss Vauxhall acquisition is expected to take place in late August.

Vauxhall Motors managing director, Stephen Norman, said: “Pentagon and the Motus Group have been key long term partners of Vauxhall and Groupe PSA for over 28 years.

“This acquisition further demonstrates Vauxhall's strength in the UK market and the strong investment opportunity, with the addition of three strong sister brands providing investors with even greater return for their investments.”

Motus Group (UK) chief executive, Rob Truscott, said: “As a Group, we are committed to growth.

“Not growth at any cost, but where we see real opportunity at sensible investment levels. The acquisition of an important Vauxhall dealership fits well with our ambitions.”
