Online car retailer Cazoo has launched a new £1 million Customer Centre in a former Infiniti car dealership in Holbeck, Leeds.

The business has created 15 jobs jobs with the opening of the used car handover centre, which is the 17th such location to be opened in the past six months.

Located on Domestic Road, Holbeck, Cazoo’s new Leeds location was acquired late last year.

Cazoo said in a statement that it is planning to open a further eight Customer Centres across the UK this year, providing its customers with a ‘click and collect’ option in addition to home delivery.

Founder and chief executive, Alex Chesterman, said: “We have been delighted by the response of consumers to our online car buying proposition.

“Our new Customer Centres provide more options to our customers on how they want to receive their Cazoo car and will allow us to serve them better through our own service centres.

“We’re excited to be opening in Leeds as we continue our mission to provide the best experience to car buyers across the UK.”

In an exclusive interview with AM following the launch of its first Customer Centre, Cazoo founder Alex Chesterman revealed plans for “couple of dozen” Customer Centres across the UK.

Chesterman said that adding customer-facing premises was part of a plan to bring Cazoo closer to its customers and expand a distribution network initially established with its Corby operations centre and 10 further distribution locations across the UK.

And he insisted that the move "does not constitute a u-turn” on physical sales.

Cazoo claims to be “pioneering the shift to online car buying” in the UK and, since its launch just over a year ago, has delivered almost 20,000 cars to consumers.
