Skoda has topped the Driver Power car survey standings after owners told the annual study that the Superb saloon and Yeti hatchback were the UK’s “best cars to own”.

Two Lexus models and one Toyota also made the top ten, meanwhile, with the Lexus RX taking third spot and the Rav 4 SUV claiming fourth place in the survey which draws its results from customer feedback.

Motorists were asked to report back on their vehicle’s performance, comfort, practicality and tech, along with asking for specific detail about features such as rear legroom and the child-friendly features, as well as how reliable their model was.

The chart-topping Skoda Superb won over customers thanks to the service provided by the brand’s dealers according to a testimonial cited by Auto Express, Driver Power's partner for the annual survey.

Asked why he had opted for the Skoda over a Mercedes E-Class or Jaguar XF Sportbrake, Christopher Wise, from Storrington, West Sussex, revealed: “It was the customer service.”

“The Mercedes and Jaguar dealers seemed fairly uninterested, but the Skoda salesman was really good.

“We were only there an hour, he asked us all the right questions and we left with a business finance quote; the Jaguar quote took 10 days to turn up.”
